YES ohmy god. phainon is my favorite character literally of all time, i love him so much. shes so well written it makes me sick. if you do check out honkai star rail (which i recommend, especially if you like turn-based combat! i find the game is also very generous for a gacha, they rerun characters a lottt too) separate from mydei, my favorite thing about phainon is how kind he strives to be in spite of his tremendous anger. she has issues, Several Extreme ones in fact, but she does her best to remain loving. her love and anger/hatred fuel each other in an endless loop in fact, and i appreciate that the narrative highlights that those two feelings are often inextricably linked. he does take it to an extreme though... and his repression of all negative emotions also fascinates me deeply. on a less serious level, im also so terribly fond of the fact that he canonically has an atrocious sense of style and color coordination. what goes on... my favorite aspect of mydei on the other hand is definitely that he is not what youd expect from first looking at him. he seems like he'd be a typical hotblooded warrior #machospartan with an arrogant streak, and while he Can be a little arrogant sometimes, it's usually just in friendly competition with phainon (the only warrior who can keep up with him on amphoreus). hes gentle, loves kids, loves his companions, can cook very well, enjoys reading, and is surprisingly perceptive even if he sucks at communicating (he can tell when phainon is hiding something or is upset, but doesnt always know how to comfort him or what to say). at the same time, he admits that he relishes in violence on the battlefield even though he wants to change the culture of glory through conquest that his people cling to. together, they are perfect equals. they cover each other's blind spots in a literal physical and psychological way, and their mutual respect and comraderie in canon is genuinely so wonderful to see. even outside of romantic subtext or shipping, theyre best friends! they are the way that patroclus and achilles in the iliad are described : harboring every form of love feasible for each other, without limits. and it's moving to see that love and care play out through the events of amphoreus. i truly dont think i can describe them in a way that does them enough justice, and i dont want to spoil anything for you, but i hope you get to witness it firsthand eventually! (and thank you ^_^ i want to draw them again soon ngl because i miss them Immensely)
